We want to see Fife as a place where people with Autism and their families, are accepted as valued members of the community.
Our mission is to open a centre in Fife, where we will promote and provide understanding, acceptance, inclusion, education and offer support to children and adults with autism, their families, the wider community, health professionals and educations.
We opened Kaleidoscope in January of 2016 where we provide drop in sessions three days a week, a Friday evening teen and adult group, after school club every Thursday, family days on a Saturday and pool parties once a month. Also Autism friendly bowling and trampoline sessions once a month.
People's Postcode Lottery
Autism Rocks (Fife) has received £19939 thanks to players of the Postcode Local Trust. The funding boost from Postcode Local Trust has enabled Autism Rocks (Fife) to develop the external area of our recently refurbished Autism Centre called Kaleidoscope, on Randolph street in Buckhaven Fife. We are now a double award winning charity who support over 1280 families in Fife and beyond who are affected by autism, and are planning to expand our services to other areas of Fife.
We have made the external grounds a valuable resource for our group and an attractive location valued by the local community. We have created a number of themed areas within the garden area, including outside play and activity areas and also a quiet area for rest and relaxation. The garden also includes a tranquil sensory garden, a small fruit and veg garden and a wildlife habitat area to encourage bird nesting, hedgehogs, frogs etc.
All of this is in a secure area where the families are free to express themselves and experiment, with freedom and confidence.
In addition to the external area we have made our kitchen area more eco friendly by installing energy efficient appliances which will improve our abilities at helping our teen/adult group to develop their domestic skills and self confidence with our Friday evening cooking classes.
Our goal for this project was to offer our members the opportunity to develop new skills, to help them develop self confidence, and to also encourage the local community to become more involved with the activities of the group alongside improving the environment. The enhancement of the garden area will be an injection of hope for the local community and a sign that anything is possible.
Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People's Postcode Lottery.
Autism Rocks (Fife) received £14,325 from the trust to provide for an activities project for our families. This was to provide a safe and secure environment to support with training, creation of a soft play area and for arts & crafts.
